After patiently searching
and scouting almost every weekend (as well as auditioning various individuals) since July 2013,
I am so very happy and excited to find the perfect actor to play 'Caldera' in
'The Matador'...Shinzo Hotta
As a ki...d raised in Hawaii and Guam in the 70's and early 80's, I will never forget being in a hypnotic trance, watching Hotta-san's awesome performances and his iconic characters in his countless fantastic and hardboiled samurai 'jidai geki' and yakuza films. The Japanese film and TV industry nowadays simply do not have the same type of intensity, grittiness, and most of all...charismatic, magnetic actors like Hotta-san.
Time to stick it to them and remind Japanese viewers of cool legends like him!
It's thus my pleasure to cast Hotta-san to play the mysterious and iconoclastic 'Caldera'.
